12th JIEPE · 2026
About JIEPE
The Integrated Conference on Teaching, Research and Extension of the Federal
University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM), Brazil — a joint undertaking of the
Vice-Rectorates for Research and Graduate Studies (PROPPG), Extension, Culture and
Sport (PROEXT), Teaching (PROENS) and Community and Student Affairs (PROACE).
JIEPE showcases what UFTM produces — undergraduate scientific and technological
research, master's, doctoral and postdoctoral research, university extension
(community engagement) initiatives, teaching programs and projects, and student
support — to strengthen learning by bringing the three areas together.
When
November 9–12, 2026
Where
Uberaba and Iturama, Brazil, in person
Part of
23rd Brazilian National Science and Technology Week (SNCT)
What can be presented
Each area has its own eligible programs and projects. In all of them, what is
submitted is an abstract — the work is presented at the event as
a poster. The full submission rules are in the
rules.
Teaching
Results of work carried out under the Programa de Monitoria (peer
tutoring), the Programas de Educação Tutorial (PET), the Programa de
Educação pelo Trabalho para a Saúde (PET-Saúde), AfirmaSUS, the Programa
Institucional de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID) and teaching projects, on a
rolling basis or with a scholarship, carried out at UFTM and elsewhere, as
well as experience reports from internship courses.
Presentation is mandatory for projects linked to the
Edital 23/2024/DAEN/DGE/PROENS.
Research and graduate studies
Partial or final results of projects in UFTM's lato sensu or
stricto sensu graduate programs — master's, doctoral or
postdoctoral — and in the Projeto Integrado à Pesquisa (PIP). Also completed
undergraduate research (Iniciação Científica), funded or on UFTM's rolling
basis.
Presentation is mandatory for completed work in the
Institutional Undergraduate Research Program with a scholarship — PIBIC/CNPq,
PIBITI/CNPq, BIC/FAPEMIG, PIBIC/UFTM, BIC Júnior/FAPEMIG and PIBIC-EM/CNPq —
and in the Institutional Undergraduate Research Program without a scholarship.
Extension
Activities linked to the programs and projects registered with PROEXT in 2026.
Presentation is mandatory for activities funded by an
institutional or external scholarship — PIBEX, Cefores, Centro Cultural,
Complexo Científico e Cultural de Peirópolis, external partners and
FAPEMIG/CNPq extension with a research interface.
Inclusion
Experience reports from inclusive peer tutors and mentors supporting
undergraduate students with Specific Educational Needs (NEE), in two PROACE
categories: Inclusive Peer Tutoring (Monitoria Inclusiva) and inclusive
mentoring (tutoria inclusiva). Tutors and mentors may enter, whether on a
scholarship or volunteering.
This edition's theme
Women in Science: Overcoming Barriers, Building the Future
The 12th JIEPE is part of the 23rd Brazilian National Science and Technology Week
(SNCT), whose 2026 national theme is Ciência Delas (“Her
Science”). The two themes converge, and this edition takes on that commitment: to
make women's scientific work visible, to discuss the barriers that still limit
careers in science, and to recognize those at UFTM who are overcoming them.
That cannot be settled in an opening lecture. The theme runs through the whole
program — in the round tables, the training activities and the curation of the
cultural program — and the wider community is part of it: JIEPE is
entirely free and open to the public, schools included.
A conference organized around social impact
In 2026 the papers, training activities and lectures are organized by the
Sustainable Development Goals — the 17 commitments that 193
countries made at the UN in 2015 to tackle problems such as poverty, hunger,
disease, inequality and climate change by 2030 — plus
SDG 18, Ethnic-Racial Equality, which Brazil added in 2024 and
which IBGE, the national statistics agency, already tracks alongside the others.
Here they work as a common language. A paper on dengue fever, another on literacy
in basic education and another on reusing agro-industrial waste belong to
different departments and rarely meet — but all of them respond to a problem
society recognizes. Naming that problem is a way of showing, inside and outside
the university, what public research gives back to those who fund it.
757
papers presented at the previous edition, in Uberaba, spread across
all 17 goals of the 2030 Agenda. Quality Education accounted
for 33% and Good Health and Well-being for 24%; Gender Equality, the goal that
sets the tone of this edition, brought together 39 papers.
The previous edition was classified by an automatic language model (Aurora SDG)
run on the published abstracts; it is a snapshot, not a judgement of merit. The
model knows the UN's 17 goals, which is why SDG 18 has no 2025 figure. The colour
bar on the home page shows the distribution
goal by goal.
Why “integrated”
By bringing the four areas together in a single event, UFTM aims at a well-rounded
education for its students and at integration across its undergraduate, technical
and graduate programs — in view of the complexity and challenge posed by
knowledge, cultural diversity and interdisciplinarity.
JIEPE seeks to contribute to the humanistic education of students in every UFTM
program, putting them in touch with current research topics and with what those
topics mean for society, through lectures, round tables, cultural activities and
paper presentations. The aim is to foster knowledge in an integrated way and to
strengthen the inseparability of the teaching, research, extension and innovation
produced at UFTM.
