12th Integrated Conference on Teaching, Research and Extension
Women in Science: Overcoming Barriers, Building the Future
Four days of training activities, talks, culture and presentations of work, organized around the social impact the university has on the community. Attending and taking part in the activities is free and open to everyone, with no need for any affiliation with UFTM, the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro.
To present, there are three paths: the abstract, which must come from a UFTM project or program and is published in the Proceedings; the training activity; and the Talent Show, both open to people with no affiliation.
Part of the Brazilian National Science and Technology Week (SNCT), under the national theme Ciência Delas (“Her Science”).
Hub JIEPE
The conference system
All three kinds of submission, registrations, choosing your time slot and recording your attendance at activities — it all happens on the Hub. The website informs; the Hub is where you act. The Hub is available in Portuguese only.
- Submit an abstract, propose a training activity or sign up for the Talent Show
- Follow the review of your abstract and make corrections
- Choose the time slot for your presentation
- Register as an attendee and for training activities
- Record attendance at activities
- Evaluate posters, as a reviewer
- Download certificates
No attendance record, no certificate. Attendance is recorded on the Hub, during each activity — talk, training activity or poster session.
Science that answers real problems
In 2015, at the UN, 193 countries committed to 17 goals to be met by 2030 — ending hunger, ensuring clean water, curbing global warming, giving everyone a quality education. These are the Sustainable Development Goals, and each one has an SDG icon: the numbered square, with its own colour and symbol, that the UN uses to identify it. In 2024 Brazil added SDG 18, Ethnic-Racial Equality, with its own icon and colour. These eighteen icons give this page its colours.
If you are submitting an abstract, the SDG page explains what each goal is and how to recognize which of them your work responds to.
Put that way, it sounds distant. But each of these commitments has someone researching it here at UFTM. Below are some of the works presented at the 2025 edition, each with the SDG icon it responds to. The proceedings hold them all: 6,980 papers across the 11 editions of JIEPE.

None was left empty. It shows that a public university in the interior of Minas Gerais researches health, energy, water, education, cities and inequality all at once. In 2026 about 800 works are expected, on two campuses.

Eight ways to be part of JIEPE
Registration takes place on Hub JIEPE (in Portuguese), the rules are in the rules page and the deadlines in Key dates. The two tracks of the National Science and Technology Week, marked in red, will soon get their own rules and channel.
Three kinds of submission only the abstract requires an affiliation with UFTM
Present a work
On-site poster in teaching, research, extension or inclusion. What you submit is the abstract, of work carried out in a UFTM project or program; once approved, it is published in the Proceedings.
Propose a training activity
Workshop, short course, conversation circle or a similar format, in your field. Whoever proposes it leads it, so what matters is experience in the subject, not an affiliation with UFTM.
Perform in the Talent Show
Music, dance, theatre, poetry, comedy, circus or another form of expression, in Uberaba or Iturama. Open to everyone, with or without an affiliation with UFTM.
To attend the conference
Volunteer as an event monitor
For students only. You choose your shifts — morning or afternoon, on the four days of the event — and the certificate adds up the hours.
Join a training activity
Free and open to the whole community — limited places, with a waiting list.
Attend as a listener
Free and open to the whole community — no affiliation with UFTM is needed, and you can register on site, during the event.
National Science and Technology Week
Ciência Delas in 1 minute
A contest of short videos, up to 60 seconds long, about science done by women. More information will be released soon.
Ciência Delas UFTM Award
For primary and secondary school students: it recognizes work on women's leading role in science or on science communication. More information will be released soon.
This edition is part of the Brazilian National Science and Technology Week
Under the national theme Ciência Delas (“Her Science”), the program is entirely free and open to the whole community — schools, families and the public.
